Obituary

Susan Marietta Chesney (Nee Punkari)

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the peaceful passing of Susan Marietta (nee Punkari) Chesney on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Susan was a woman whose warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her family was the center of her universe, and she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, laughter, and devotion.

She will be forever cherished by her loving husband, Dexter Chesney, and deeply missed by her children, Pete St. Marseille (Nicole), Steven St. Marseille (Robyn), and Pam St. Marseille. Susan was a devoted sister to Jack Punkari (Susan, deceased), Randy Punkari (Dianne), Kathy Smorhay (Greg), and Kim Punkari. Predeceased by her father and mother Harvey and Elsa Punkari.

Her brightest joy came from watching her family grow. She was the immensely proud grandmother of PJ Chesney, Jesse Nap, Kayne St. Marseille (Olivia), Jade Chesney (Brennan), MacKenzie Gray, Summer Gray, Lillian St. Marseille, Jorja Gray, and Gunnar Gray. Her love multiplied with the arrival of her precious great-grandchildren, Ella, Scarlett, Oliver, Oaklynn, Marshall, Lucas, Naomi, Slade, and Harvey, each of whom brought immense light and smiles to her life.

Susan’s nurturing heart extended well beyond her family home. Through her dedicated work with the March of Dimes, she poured genuine compassion and kindness into caring for every single one of her residents, treating them with dignity, respect, and boundless affection.

Her gentle nature, bright spirit, and caring presence will be missed beyond measure by all her extended family, dear friends, and those whose lives she touched so deeply.
