Obituary
On September 1, 2026, Jennifer Pauline Parsons went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in her 77th year. Her name means "Gentle Spirit".
Jennifer was pre-deceased by her mother, Anita, her father, Lawrence, and siblings Eva, Charles, Anita "Bib", Lorraine, and Miles (Susan).
Jennifer is survived by her husband, John, of 52 beautiful years, daughter Candace (Adam), brothers Matt (Sue, deceased), Maurice (Joanna), sisters Beverly and Christine, aunts Marion and Marge, several nieces and great nieces, nephews and great nephews, and cousins.
Jennifer graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1971. She obtained a BA in English and French, and was the first Kettle and Stony Point First Nation member to graduate from a university.
Jennifer went to Teachers' College in London and received her Teaching Certificate. Over the next 30 years, she dedicated herself to educating the children of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation and Walpole Island First Nation in their schools.
After entering into a personal relationship with Jesus, Jennifer showed the same faithfulness and dedication to serving Him, and was happy and eager to put her hands to the plough to do what was needful. She developed and wrote faith-based curriculum, taught Sunday School to all ages, and helped prepare countless fellowship dinners. She drove a church bus full of young people from Kettle Point to Bethesda Bible Church in Port Huron, Michigan every Friday night for a youth program, and planned outings for the youth, like Boblo Island Amusement Park and Niagara Falls Tours for example. Lots of fun!
Jennifer was an avid cat-lover and shared a special bond with many cherished pets throughout the years. There was also a special place in her heart for her favourite pop: Pepsi.
Jennifer fought the good fight to the end and now is re-united with loved ones, and reaping her rewards in heaven.
"Gentle Spirit" will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Jennifer's Life will be held at a later date. If desired, remembrances to the Alzheimer Society Sarnia-Lambton would be gratefully appreciated.
